#Achechijamaa: Aisha Buhari joins #SecureNorth protest

Aisha Buhari, #Achechijamaa

The first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari, has created a new hashtag #Achechijamaa (save the people) and shared it with a Hausa song highlighting the insecurity and killings in the Northern part of the country.

The region battles Boko Haram insurgency which killed tens of thousands in the North East and banditry and kidnapping in the North West and North Central.

The State Security Service, SSS, on Friday night grilled four leaders of Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, who are planning to stage protests over insecurity in the North, with a hashtag #EndInsecurityNow

There is ongoing widespread protests across the country to bring an end to police brutality and proscription of a notorious police unit, SARS..

Mrs Buhari had in June last year lamented the killings in the North, saying “The security agents should either assist to take action or allow the situation continue until bandits finished killing our people.”

In her latest campaign against the killings, the wife of the president shared a Hausa song with the hashtag #Achechijamaa on her verified Twitter handle.

The song features a video of the country’s security and service Chiefs.

Below is the translation of the song.

Please look at our situation
We need your help
The North is crying
Our blood is spilt
Our people are killed
Our property destroyed
Please look at our situation
Please protect us
