Adamawa State government has on Monday, constituted a 9-man COVID-19 containment committee in its response to contain the spread of the dreaded virus in the state.
In a statewide broadcast, governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa, Monday, said so far, the state has not recorded any case of the virus in the state.
The governor announced the secretary to the state government, Eng. Bashir Ahmed as the chairmen of the committee.
“In furtherance of the overall objective of preventing the spread, the Adamawa State COVID-19 Containment Committee is hereby constituted with the Secretary to the State Government, Mallam Bashiru Ahmad as Chairman,” Fintiri said.
According to the governor, other members of the committee include; Professor Abdullahi Isa, Adamawa State commissioner of health, Medical Director, Yola specialist hospital, Dauda Odinga, and Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre Yola, Professor Muhammad Awwal.
Others are; commissioner for local government, Muhammad Umar Madagali, commissioner of environment, Hassan Kaigama, commissioner of Information and strategy, Dr Garba Umar Pella, commissioner of Livestock and Aquaculture Development, Usman Yahaya Diyajo, while the Director Public Health, Ministry of Health will serve as the Secretary.
The governor said the terms of reference of the committee include but not limited to coordinating the overall Medico-social response to COVID-19 pandemic, paying attention to public sensitization and implementation of containment measures.
“The Committee shall be responsible for regular briefings and updates on containment measures,” the governor added.
