In its resolve to fight crime and criminality in Adamawa State, the police command has nabbed a car jerker/armed robbery suspect.
A statement by the command’s image maker, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje said, in a joint operation, operatives/detectives of Vuniklang and Criminal investigation Department (CID) arrested the suspect, Kiya Peter (36) who has earned notoriety in attacking and inflicting injuries and snatching vehicles of innocent residents.
” The suspect Kiya Peter (36), a resident of Hupuba village of Gombi LGA had on 11/01/2021 attacked Sunday Stephen of federal housing unit in Girei local government by hitting and inflicting a severe injury on him and robbed him of his vehicle 307 Peugeot leaving him in the pool of his blood.
” The Ag, commissioner of police DCP Samaila Dikko Shuaibu, fsi, immediately deployed operatives/detectives of police who luckily apprehended the suspect and recovered the snatched vehicle.
” Findings further reveal that the same suspect sometimes in April, 2015 approached one Ahmed Awal, a Hummer bus driver with Adamawa sunshine and pretended to hire his vehicle to convey some goods to Abuja.
” He invited him into his house, while negotiating a price the suspect suddenly attacked and killed the driver with a strong iron rod.
” That wasn’t enough he equally bundled the corpse inside “Ghana must go bag” and threw it into River Benue before he was apprehended, investigated and charged to court.
” The suspect who was in prison since then, found his way out of the prison last year 2020 and went ahead and committed similar offences,” the statement said.
Meanwhile the police said as part of efforts at tackling criminal activities and related offences, the Ag. CP has directed a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the release of the suspect and promising to ensure justice prevails.
The statement noted that the suspect will be arraigned in court upon completion of investigations and called on vehicle owners/drivers to be vigilant and report person(s) of dubious character to police station close to their areas of resident.
