Adamawa State police command has disclosed that it is on the trail of a 20-year-old resident of Damare in Yola south local government, Hamza Abubakar who allegedly killed his 21-year-old friend, Umar Labaran following a minor disagreement.

In a phone chat with our reporter, the image maker of the state police command, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje said, the police received report of the murder in Yola on Friday morning and quickly rushed to the scene and took the wounded person to hospital were he was declared dead by doctors.

Nguroje noted that the police are trailing the suspect who has gone underground after committing the heinous act so as to face justice.

An eyewitness account told our reporter on phone that Abubakar stabbed Labaran on the neck following a minor disagreement which led to his eventual death.

“The two friends were just having a friendly disagreement. Without warning, Labaran went and pick up a knife being used by the younger brother of the deceased man and stabbed him on the neck.

“He immediately collapsed after which the police were alerted who took him to FMC Yola where he was confirmed dead.

“His corpse was buried at Yolde Pate cemetery after Friday prayers yesterday.
Labaran will remain in our minds for a very long time because he was simple, easy going, hard working and a loyal friend,” the eyewitness told our reporter.
