*Chairmen to pay N200,000; councillors N50,000 as nomination/expression of interest forms
The Social Democratic Party, (SDP), Adamawa State chapter, has released line of activities ahead of the oncoming local government election.
A time table of activities signed by the state organizing secretary of the party, Hon Aziz Jibrillah said the party, will commence sales of nomination and expression of interest forms from 15 – 25 August 2019.
Submission of forms will take place between 26 – 27 August, while screening of aspirants will take place between 28 – 31 August 2019.
On 1 September, the party will display a report of the screening committees and from 2 – 3 September 2019 the party will entertain appeals resulting from screening reports.
On 4 September, the party will display the final list of aspirants. On 7 September 2019, the party will conduct primaries for chairmanship and councillorship positions.
The party will between 9 – 10 September, receive appeals arising from the conduct of the Chairmanship and councillorship primaries.
On 24 September 2019, the party will display the final list of aspirants while between 25 – 27 September 2019, the aspirants will return completed ADSIEC forms to the party.
In another vein, the party has pegged the sum of N150,000 and N50,000 as the price tag of nomination and expression of interest forms respectively for chairmanship positions while it pegged the nomination and expression of interest forms for councillorship at N40,000 and N10,000 respectively.
A statement released by the organising secretary indicated that female aspirants and physically challenged persons will only pay for expression of interests forms in line with the position they are vying for.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has upon his resumption, sworn in transition committees across the 21 Local Governments and gave them three months within which to conduct local government polls in order to usher in democratically elected executive at the third tier of government in the state.
