Anxiety grips Adamawa as tribunal delivers judgement on Friday

Adamawa Tribunal

Adamawa political temperature has surged to a frightening level as the election petition tribunal fixed Friday to deliver judgment in a case filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the victory of incumbent governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the last governorship poll in the state, a statement by the tribunal said.

Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Adebara, had in August after the adoption of final addresses said the court will deliver judgment on the case although he did not give a definite date for the ruling.

As a result of the development, the state political milieu is witnessing frenetic climax between supporters of the two major rival parties as they took the battle to the social media with each group making a victory claim.

In the March 2019 contest, the Independent National Electoral Commission announced Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as the winner of the contest after polling 376,552 votes to defeat Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow in a keen contest that was later marred by controversies following the declaration of the contest as inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
