Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has today accused the immediate past administration led by Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow of not constructing a single classroom in its four year stewardship.
The governor who made the accusation during the launch of 1442 Islamic calendar year by the Muslim council of Adamawa, noted that his government is working hard to revive the bastardized sector.
The governor who spoke in Hausa did not mince words in condemning the last administration for the the neglect of the all important sector.
“I must state that since governor Nyako left, no single classroom was built by the succeeding administration. That is why education is in tatters,” he said.
He noted that to reverse the ugly trend, his administration is taking the gauntlet to restore the lost glory of the sector by ensuring that it rehabilitates/reconstruct 6,000 classrooms, paid WAEC/NECO examination fees for all candidates and also ensure free and compulsory education from primary to secondary levels in the state.
He also noted that his government deemed it fit to deliberately revive the education policy because the youth will be the major beneficiaries.
But responding to the allegations, the chairman of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Ibrahim Bilal, accused Fintiri of pettiness and playing to the gallery to achieve cheap political goals.
“The statement is utter balderdash and shows the desperation of a failing administration to score a cheap point.
” We all know that the state is only contributing 10 percent to the funding for the rehabilitation of schools while federal government is giving 90 percent.
“So it is trite for him to claim glory for what the federal government is doing.
” The governor should be reminded that it was Bindow’s administration that rehabilitated all the classrooms destroyed by Boko Haram,” the chairman said.
