Cleric urges Muslims to reap benefits of Dhul Hajj, get their PVCs

Dhul Hajj

A renowned Islamic cleric, Dr. Bashir Liman Hong has called on Muslim Ummah to work hard in seeking the special bounties that are exceptionally found only in the first 10 days of this month of Dhul Hajj.

The clergyman made this call in a weekly Ta’alim, a periodic Islamic preaching session at the ambassador Dahiru Waziri jumma’at mosque in Yola.

Dr. Liman Hong explained that the first ten days of Dhul Hajj are full of special blessings and rewards from Allah (SWT) to people who do the right things.

However, the Islamic Scholar enumerate among others – fasting, extra prayers, visitation of friends and relatives, offering of charity to the needy, as acts, which Muslims are expected to engage in, during this period.

The cleric therefore enjoined the Ummah to observe fasting on the day of Arafat in order to reap extra rewards from Allah.

Arafat is observed by Pilgrims in Mecca on the 9th day of Dhul Hijjah. It is compulsory for every pilgrim to be at the mount of Arafat on that day.

He also emphasized the special rewards that are attached to offering of sacrifice by slaughtering a Ram on the 10th day of the month.

Dhul Hajj, according to the Imam, is the last month of the year in the Islamic calendar.

Meanwhile, Liman also enjoined eligible Muslims who are yet to obtain the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVCs) to hurry and do so before the closing date of the exercise to enable them vote for leaders of their choice.

He said Muslims should utilize the remaining days of the exercise announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to get the PVCs to enable them exercise their franchise during the 2019 general elections.

It could be recalled that INEC has recently announced that it will close the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise on Friday, 17th of this month.
