The Federal Medical Center (FMC), Yola has suspended visits to patients receiving treatment at the facility by members of their family in a move to stop the incursion and spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A statement signed by the Chief Information Officer of the hospital, Muhammadu Adamu Dodo said decision was in compliance with the Federal Government’s directive to control the spread of the disease.
“This is to bring to the notice of the general public that the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Yola, in compliance with the directives from the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), with a view to controlling the spread of Corona Virus Disease; COVID-19, is implementing the following measures with immediate effect:
” 1. All visits by patient relatives have been suspended till further notice.
” 2. Only one patient relative is allowed to stay with a patient on admission.
” The management of the hospital wishes to remind members of the public to observe regular hand washing with soap and clean water, use of hand sanitizers where soap and water are not readily available, observe social distancing, avoid handshake and crowded places and observe personal hygiene.
“These measures will be reviewed as the situation improves,” the statement added.
The federal government has taken decisive measures to curtail the spread of the virus including schools and other critical businesses as the number of infection increases.
