Fintiri obtains N3bn high impact grant for Adamawa State University

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri revealed that within three months of his administration, the state government had secured three billion Naira high impact grant to fund the Adamawa State University ADSU Mubi.

He stated this when he received the Senate and management staff as well as Union members of the University on a courtesy call in the Council Chamber, Government House, Yola Wednesday.

The Governor said the money will be used to erect three faculty buildings, hostels and other infrastructure including road network and security light among others within the university campus for more conducive atmosphere for learning.

He said his administration accords education system in the state a top priority adding that the state university will receive adequate attention and asked the management of the institution to show commitment to better service delivery.

Governor Umaru Fintiri further urged the management to entrench discipline and commitment in staff and sought the support of the unionists to raise the impacts of the university to the status of prosperity and development.

The Governor thanked the delegation for the visit and assured members that the present administration is committees to taking the state to the next level while enjoining them to join hands with the government for a greater Adamawa.

Earlier in her address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Adamawa State University Mubi Professor Kaletapwa Farauta who congratulated the Governor on his assumption of office enumerated some of the achievements recorded by the present management of the institution since twenty seventeen.

According to Professor Farauta, the University has obtained approval for establishing new academic programmes from the National Universities Commission NUC and attained one hundred percent accreditation status for its postgraduate programmes among others.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor made a passionate appeal to the government to build more lecture theatres, staff quarters and hostels to meet the university’s growing population as well as providing vehicles and electricity transformers to the university.

In his remark, the Chairman Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities SSANU, ADSU chapter, Mr. James Fwa appealed to the Governor to settle the backlog of staff earned allowances and increase the three percent state government allocation to the university.

The Acting Registrar of the University Malam Yahaya Bobboi thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for the support given to the institution and assured of him their loyalty and support to the present administration.
