Executive Chairman of Hong Local Government Council of Adamawa State, Hon. James Pukuma has accepted violating Local Establishment and Administration Law, 2014, and begged the state’s lawmakers to temper justice with mercy.
Pukuma admitted the guilt verdict prepared by the state’s assembly against him when he appeared before the lawmaker’s Joint Ad Hoc Committees which is investigating him for circumventing the said law as brought against him last week.
The assembly has accused the chairman of violating the law by swearing in the newly appointed Secretary and Supervisory Councillors in the local government without getting confirmation from the legislative council of Hong local government.
Piqued by the brazen audacity, the house of assembly resolved to summon the Chairman, Clerk and the Council Members to appear before it last week to explain the rationale for the haughtiness.
But upon his appearance before Hon. Alhassan Hammanjoda led Ad Hoc Committee, the Chairman formally tendered his apology to the house for committing the offence and further regretted his action.
Hon Pukuma, while pleading for leniency, assured the Honourable House that he will not commit such mistake again in the future.
Upon considering and adopting the report of Hon. Alhassan led Committee today, the House presided by Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas directed the Chairman to apologise to Hong Legislative Council and assure the councillors that he will not repeat the infraction again.
The Lawmakers further urged the chairman to forward another letter for the same purpose to the councillors for consideration and approval.
