National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Taraba State reported that, the body of one of nine corp members who drowned in Taraba River has been recovered.
It could be recalled that, serving Corps Members had on Saturday, left their Places of Primary Assignment and embarked on a picnic at the site before the unfortunate incident. Read more
Mr Odeh Innuma, the NYSC spokesperson in Taraba state said the body was recovered from the river on Wednesday.
The latest recovered body is the 8th body that has been found out of nine. FOMBINA TIMES HAS LEARNT.
“We have all the details of the nine corps members involved in that unfortunate picnic tragedy, but it is not in our power to release the information to the media now.” Mr. Innuma
He said search is still ongoing for the last body whose name was said to be Godiya, a Kaduna State indigene.
“Any moment from now, the Director General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, will release the detailed information about the victims.
Just yesterday, the DG sent someone to Gashaka where the incident happened and the person has since returned to Abuja. So, we are all waiting to hear from the DG on the next line of action.” He added.
It has been reported that, the recovered body is at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre in Jalingo Local Government Area, the state capital.
