The North East Online Network (NEON), an umbrella body of online publishers in the region has commiserated with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri over the demise of his father.
In a communiqué jointly signed by the interim president of the union, Dr. Mohammadu Adamu Dodo and the Secretary-General Mohammed Mohammed Ismail shortly after its general meeting in Yola, the organization applauded the giant strides recorded by three of the region’s governors in the areas of security, healthcare and education.
The governors are; Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno and Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.
The communiqué reads in part: “The North East Online Network; a regional online publishers’ association that is aimed at rebranding the online reportage held its general meeting in Yola on Saturday, August 10, 2019.
” The congress among many other issues commiserated with the people and government of Adamawa State over the death of the father of His Excellency Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
“NEON commends the governments in the northeast for addressing security challenges and particularly the governor’s of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states for working on a project that is aimed at getting education and healthcare out of the maze by also improving civil service with motivation schemes.
” NEON particularly acknowledged and appreciated the contribution of His Excellency Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe state for his relentless support to its activities.
“The union felicitates with the Muslim Ummah across the globe, over successful Hajj which climaxed with the observance of the Arafat day and wishes the Muslim Ummah a blessed, peaceful and successful Eid El-Adha festivities.”
The online publishers reiterated their unflinching commitment towards promoting the noble ethics of the profession and ensure balanced and objective reportage of happenings across the region and by extension Nigeria as a whole.
“NEON in session resolves to encourage public and media relations, considering the fact that performance without adequate publicity makes poor media and public relations.
” It also considers collaboration, constant capacity development, professional and public enlightenment on the use to which online media can be put to ensure effective and efficient media relations against hate speeches, social media gossips taken for news and subjectivity, through lectures, and seminars,” the communiqué noted.
