The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), has directed its members to join the nationwide strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to protest the hike in fuel pump price and electricity tariff.
A statement by the National Secretary of NUJ, Shuaibu Leman, called on the journalist to fully comply with the directive until otherwise countered by the NLC.
The statement however directed that those that will cover the strike action will be identified by the NUJ.
In a similar vein, the Adamawa State chapter of NUJ has pledged to fully comply with the directive by the National Secretariat of the union.
A statement signed by the council secretary, Fidelis Jocthan urged members to join the nationwide strike from Monday September 28, 2020.
“The Adamawa State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is hereby calling all it’s members to mobilize and take action to that effect.
“Any Journalist covering the impending strike should please notify the state council for onward communication to the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)in the state.
“All Chapels leadership should take note and act accordingly.
Any further decision from our National Secretariat will equally be communicated please,” the statement noted.
