The NYSC Adamawa State Coordinator, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed has called on Corps members to avoid living deceptive lifestyles and embrace the Scheme’s Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
He gave the admonition yesterday at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Damare in an address to declare closed the SAED training organized for Corps members deployed to the state for the 2018 Batch B service year.
Mallam Mohammed who lamented the fact that some Corps members are fond of undermining entrepreneurship, under the pretense of being graduates, with the prospects of getting good jobs after their period of national service.
He stated that entrepreneurship is the only sure way to economic greatness in a world that has an unprecedented increase in the rate of youth unemployment.
“Agreed, you went to school and graduated with an impressive result. But the fact remains, the labour market is long over saturated with uncountable unemployed graduates.
I must therefore tell you that venturing into entrepreneurship is the only guarantee for our youths to attain economic autonomy. This is why NYSC introduced SAED in 2012.
I am pleased to inform you that hundreds of thousands of graduates who took part in this training since inception have become millionaires already” Mal. Muhammad said.
Speaking further, Mal. Mohammed charged the 1229 Corps members who participated in the training in Camp to locate training centers at their Places of Primary Assignment to perfect their skills before the end of the service year.
High point of the event was an exhibition, during which the Corps members showcased the various products they learned how to make in the course of the training.
