A policeman, Sergeant Abdulrazaq Dahiru was among the 71 hardened criminals paraded by the Adamawa State police command for involvement in kidnapping and other sundry crimes in the state.
Reports indicated that the police renewed cooperation with Fulani volunteer groups to tackle rising crime in the state yielded the feat.
Fielding questions from newsmen, the state police commissioner Audu A. Madaki confirmed the arrest of the policeman.
According to him , ‘’ the suspects had conspired and kidnapped people in parts of the state and collected N3.8 million ransom.
“That on the 08/ 03/ 2020 while interrogating the apprehended Kidnappers, one among them confessed to having been romancing with the NCO, Sgt. Abdulrazaq Dahiru, ‘’ the police boss said.
Madaki further said the suspects alleged that the police officer supplied them on three different occasions with 9 number of live ammunitions that facilitated their criminal activities.
‘’Hence the Command apprehended the policeman now undergoing interrogations,” he added.
According to the Commissioner of Police items recovered from the suspects include 13 AKs 47 Rifles, 761 rounds of life ammunition, 18 Magazines and 5 locally made pistols.
While commending members of Fulani volunteer groups of Miyetti Allah and Tabital-Puulaku , for their resilience efforts in assisting police and other security agencies in the state, CP Madaki , said that already eleven kidnappers have voluntarily surrendered themselves and vowed to assist in fishing out criminals.
Similarly, the police he said, 51 notorious armed youths (Shila Boys) who have been deposing commuters of their possessions in the state were arrested at their hideouts in Jambutu, Dobeli, and Kofare with various dangerous weapons and hard drugs.
