Adamawa political temperature has surged to a frightening level as the election petition tribunal fixed Friday to deliver judgment in a case filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the victory of incumbent governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the last governorship poll in the state, a statement by the tribunal said.
Fintiri who addressed the press on his victory Friday afternoon in Yola, said he would need the support and contributions of everyone, including those who contested against him, to discharge his mandate for the good of the state.
Governor Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa state and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the Governorship election which was declared inconclusive, has been urged to concede defeat, to save the state unnecessary troubles.
Governor Umar Jibrilla Bindow may likely become one of the early guests of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returned PDP candidate, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, as governor elect of Adamawa State.
The truth is that Fintiri is a man with a distinguished reputation of integrity, excellence and having an unquenchable thirst to ensure fairness and justice for all which informed his choices and preferences at all times.
"You will agree with me that since the inception of the current government, our state has been consistently, some will add, irredeemably retrogressive. The levels of poverty, poor school enrollments and transition, infant and maternal mortality, the drug epidemic and other development indices all speak to this unfolding disaster"
Controversy has trailed the sack of General Manager, Adamawa State Urban and Regional Planning, Mallam Muhammadu Dabo as opposition People's Democratic Party, (PDP) says it was a ploy by the governor to exculpate himself of any blame after he ordered the GM to remove the bill boards of the presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
To any discerning analyst, the Miango tragedy has only help to confirm for the umpteenth time that the governor did not have a secondary school certificate because instead of committing huge resources, and significant man hour to organize such a sham, it would have been easier and more honourable for the governor to gather the people of the state and show them his certificate.
The Managing Director (MD), Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (UBRBDA), Engineer Abubakar H. Mua’zu, has debunked the recent statement of Gov. Bindow of Adamawa state that authorities in Cameroon have released large volume of water from Lagdo Dam.
