Gunmen have in the early hours of Monday struck Holma town in Hong local government area of Adamawa State, killed two people, injured one other and burnt several houses.
A relative of one of the slain persons, Magu Amos, told FOMBINATIMES reporter that the gunmen struck the town around 1:00 am, Monday morning and started shouting Allahu Akbar while shooting indiscriminately.
“Residents were awoken by shouts of Allahu Akbar and sound of gunshots. There was complete pandemonium as residents scamper for safety.
” The gunmen succeeded in killing a retired teacher, popularly known as Jasper and an elderly fellow Mr. Balan Ngaku.
“Another boy was also shot with arrow and was taken to Hong cottage hospital but was later transferred to Yola following failure of the medical personnel at Hong cottage hospital to remove the arrow.
” The two slain men were interned today in the afternoon, ” Amos disclosed.
The attackers, according to Amos were suspected to be Fulani men on a mission to rustle cows.
“The attackers who resemble Fulani men came by foot and rustled many cows although some of the cows have been found in the surrounding bushes but several others are still missing,” he said.
Amos added that policemen as well as local hunters have been mobilized to the town and are combing nearby bushes so as to arrest the fleeing marauders.
