Mallam Nuhu Ribadu is the first recipient of this year’s Anti-Corruption Lifetime/Outstanding Achievement Award at the Sheikh Tamim Hamad Al Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award ceremony held at the International Convention Centre, Putrajaya, Malaysia on Friday.
Ribadu is known for his anti-graft war against corruption in Nigeria. His remarkable achievement is establishing the EFCC which has become the country’s best anti-corruption agency in Nigeria and beyond.
In his appreciation remarks at the ceremony, Ribadu outlined that the award is a strong message to the corrupt and those fighting corruption.
“I want to thank the Centre and your sponsors for initiating this amazing Award to recognize the anti-corruption champions in the world.
“this is a wonderful initiative. I believe, an award like this will certainly send a strong message; not just to the corrupt, but also those who are doing the physical work of fighting corruption.
“Nothing will encourage and tell them that the world is with them more than this type of recognition.” Ribadu said.
The Sheikh Tamim Hamad Al Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award is to promote the importance of fighting corruption around the world and encouraging the efforts of the decisive measures stipulated in the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
For the first time, Malaysia is chosen to host the award ceremony, which was held in conjunction with Qatar’s ruler, Sheikh Tamim Hamad Al-Thani’s three-day working visit to the country.
